Before you create new content, audit what you have. This checklist covers every signal that matters for AI ranking — work through it once and you'll know exactly where to focus.

Why audit before you create

The checklist

Authority signals (5 points)

Every page has a visible author name
Author pages exist with bio and credentials
Publication and update dates are displayed
About page clearly describes your organization
Contact information is easy to find

Structure (5 points)

H1 directly states the topic
Opening paragraph answers the core question
Subheadings are descriptive, not clever
Lists are used for scannable information
Content is under 2000 words unless depth is warranted

Schema markup (4 points)

Article/BlogPosting schema on all posts
Author Person schema implemented
Organization schema on homepage
BreadcrumbList schema on all pages

Technical (3 points)

Page loads in under 3 seconds
Mobile-friendly layout
No broken links in content

Content quality (3 points)

At least one specific statistic per page
Claims are sourced or clearly attributed
Content has been updated in the last 12 months

Score yourself out of 20. Anything below 14 means there are significant AI visibility gains available without writing a single new word.
